well, things certainly are changing around here.
Firstly, while I was away in Canada (rain and not enough clean socks, but good fishing) our beloved Genki decided that biting the landlady a few times was a good way to seek attention. This, combined with past scratches and bad behavior to housemates, has led to his eviction from the house. After crying, feeling confused and spending some happy lap-cat time, we contacted Shmu's mom and she's taken him back to her place for the time being. (Of course she got him on the harness and leash and had one of her kid's friends over first thing, so stressed out was our cat as a matter of course. Funny how she didn't think to put him in his own room to calm down some... but then again, it's his mom. she's a little chotto.)
So anywho, Genki's calmed down since and there's a chance one of her kid's caretakers (he's pretty severely autistic) may take in Genki for us, as she's had cats before, she and the cat know each other, and she has recently lost her own cat. Hopefully this will work out for everyone.
On my end, it seems to be a matter of when I'm moving out. I have been browsing a few places, but it would be a bitch to get my stuff into a new place when 1. I lack a car and 2. there's been talk that Kitty could move into the recently vacated room next to mine. Then again, there's the fact that Genki needs discipline in order to improve his behavior. He's not angry at folks when he misbehaves; he just seeks attention in ways that freak out folks. Plus he's at the "teenager" age anyway, so no surprises there. In any case, we do want him back; he just can't stay where I am at the moment (and he must live with me, as Shmu has allergic family members. )

Aside from cat and therefore house troubles, it's good to be back. Spending a week away from the dojo did something I guess, as I have as of last night earned my first belt stripes! course, all it means is I'm a slightly less ignorant white belt, but I'm still very happy about it. Good to know I'm making progress ^^
